2017-2018 School Year

We are excited to announce some opportunities for the 2017/2018 school year! Heading up and/or joining committees is a great way to get involved at the school and meet fabulous parents. Each committee will be provided with easy-to-follow event/activity outlines, dates, times, locations, and contact information.

The PSO made the decision this year to cancel events/activities that are not filled. We know how much students and parents alike enjoy the activities listed below, and we are hopeful that all committees will be filled!

So grab a few friends and let Shantel Riley know which committee you would like more information on. We look forward to working with you this coming school year!

Winter Formal (Feb 9th)

Middle and High School event: A committee will be given a budget which will be used for decorations, drinks, and treats. Collecting money, permission slips, dance tickets, the DJ, and the chaperones will be taken care of by the school.

Snowstorm (Nov-mid Dec)

This committee will work with the PSO to update the online credit card payment portal and collect cash and checks from the front office for deposit. The committee is responsible for updating prior year flyers and distributing them to K-5 classes and the front office. This includes online and in person money collection and distribution for a teacher gift prior to winter break.

Archway & Prep Movie Nights

A committee of 2-3 parents will select a movie from a pre-approved list and create a flyer inviting students and parents to the Commons or grass field. Set up drinks and/or snacks in the Commons the night of the movie, run the movie on the laptop, and cleanup at the end.

Pi Day (Mar 8th)

Help organize collection and distribution of slices of pie for this easy, fun event in the Commons.

Harkins Vouchers & Movie Tickets (Nov/Dec and Mar/Apr)

The committee will use the flyer from Harkins and update last year’s order forms to collect cash and checks from parents, will keep track of the orders, get a check from the PSO treasurer to purchase the vouchers (December) and tickets (April), and hand everything out to parents and/or students.

Hospitality

  • Teacher – Organize a smoothie cart or catered lunch for teachers a couple of times during the year.
  • Student Events – Organize hot chocolate and cookies for students after second quarter. Organize Ice Cream Truck to come on the last day of school.

Prep Harkins Theatre Night (TBD)

The committee will interact with the headmaster to select an appropriate movie, coordinate with Harkins on theatre rental, create a flyer for ticket purchases, and collect money for the event. They will hand thetickets out to the students prior to the event, and possibly be a chaperone the night of the event.

Teacher Appreciation (TA) Week (Apr 30-May 4th)

A group of 4-6 parents will collect funds from parents to be used to plan a week’s worth of treats for the teachers and staff.

TA Week Door Decorating

A group of individuals will be given a pre-set budget of items to craft fun, appreciation signs for the week of teacher appreciation working with the TA Committee head on the theme. The Sunday before TA Week, each Archway room parent will hang signs for Archway classrooms and committee members will support hanging the Prep signs.

Room Parent (2017-2018)

All grades: Individuals will be responsible for relaying information via email to classes occasionally. You will also help facilitate a group outing suggested by PSO and plan a treat for the teacher(s) one day each month, similar to the monthly teacher luncheons. In addition, you will be asked to help the teacher in any day-to-day needs he/she has. Please email ssrriley@q.com and indicate grade level.

Sock Hop (Apr 13th)

Junior class students and parents will work with the PSO to help coordinate activities, donations, and volunteers for the snack bar (popcorn, cotton candy, drinks, etc.). The committee will be responsible for overseeing set-up and cleanup along with your committee and leadership volunteers.

Restaurant Nights

Either the Senior Class Trip fundraising committee or the PSO will work with the headmasters to plan an outing for our families. Coordination will happen with the restaurant/place of business and our school. Flyers will need to be made to advertise the event, and the PSO will help you in promoting it.
